I am writing to express my displeasure regarding my dining experience yesterday at the Glady's Chicken & Waffle restaurant on Cascade Road. I would not recommend this restaurant for the food experience however if you want to visit 'Gladys Knight's restaurant' then go for it. The waitress checked on us once as we had to flag her down all the other times for service. The discussions were inappropriate and youthful in nature. I say this because there were other teenagers working that posted up next to our table (by the service buffet) and were talking during our entire dinner. There are many pictures on the walls of stars that have visited but the furniture is outdated-my stool was wobbly. Again, the lack of flavor was a disappointment.Ītmosphere: So this restaurant has an somewhat 'old and used' feeling. I also ordered mac and cheese and green beans. I ordered the fried chicken dinner and it was not seasoned. Now, it might seem biased but he was right. Anyway, when he ate the chicken he said that my fried chicken tasted better. I only say that because I own a belgium waffle maker (waring pro) and my waffles are bigger and better tasting. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and waffles and said that the waffle tasted like a "Eggo". But you are in a downtown area-so this is what it is-pretty much anywhere downtown USAįood: I watched the special on the Travel Channel with Adam Richman who met Gladys Knight at this very restaurant and ate chicken and waffles with her. Well, the location is already sketchy and the side streets are not well lit so the paid lot is a safe option. you enter the restaurant there is a notice that there is 'free parking' in the rear. Parking: The downtown location is 'conveniently' located next to a parking lot and it cost us $10 to park there. I took my boyfriend for his birthday for a bit of a nostalgic, romantic dinner. If I could give this location zero or negative stars I'd definitely do it! More The food is NOWHERE NEAR as good to deal with the service I experienced at that place.Ĭlearly they don't want money nor do they care about the customer experience. Didn't ask if there was anything she could do. The waitress returns and finally asks what we'd like to drink and I reply I don't think we even want to eat here anymore. We're reading the menu and we stumble across a small disclaimer that parties of 5 or more can't have the bill spilt and will only allow 2 transaction per table. Now everyone is thoroughly upset but trying to salvage the night. She replies I can't serve you guys until he gets here and says she'll be right back. Our waitress asks where was our final guest and we say he's parking the car. (There's a sign that says there is free parking but that's a lie we had to pay $10 to park) 20 minutes pass and we're finally given our table, and our final guest is out parking the car. They again try to shoo us outside this time we refuse. The hostess ignores our question and asks if all 6 people are present, we replied no and she said come back when everyone is here.Īnother 30 minutes later finally the majority of our party arrives, so we again go inside, the hostess tells us our table will be ready in 20 minutes. So we go back inside to ask about our table. 20 minutes later we call the number to check for our table and guess what?! It's just the regular restaurant phone that the hostesses don't answer! So we go back to car to wait out our time. it's the middle of winter and it's freezing outside. Last I checked it was guests like me who funded your business, why do I have to call you for my table?Īnyway, we walk away and found a corner to stand in and the hosted starts yelling that we were all required to stand outside and wait. The hostess then replied with an attitude that we would have to call them every 15 minutes to check if the table was ready. We asked how would we be notified that our table was ready. were told it would be a 25-30 minutes wait for a party of 6, which was perfectly acceptable. We walked up the the hostess counter and before we even finish a sentence we were given an attitude from the staff. This way by far the WORST restaurant I have ever been to.įrom the time we entered the door the problems began.
